Academic Index (AI) Formula:
AI = (Total Weighted Score) / (Total Contributory Documents) X 20
Where:
Total Weighted Score is derived from summing the scores for each category of academic contribution based on academic contribution and performance.
Total Contributory Documents are the numbers of total contributions submitted by the academician to calculate the total weighted score. Therefore, if some academician is getting higher points in total weighted scores by submission of less numbers of documents, then his/her Academic Index will be higher.
Let’s break down the scoring across six academic activities to fit within the total maximum score of 20.
- Research Paper Publications:
Assign 5 points as a maximum weight.
Calculate based on the score is proportional to academic contribution for peer-reviewed journal articles, but capped at 5.
Formula: Maximum total score can be 5 and for one paper the maximum score can be 1, if the paper was published in Scopus Q1 or equivalent journal. It is counted for combining maximum of 3 years last publications only.
- Book Publications:
Assign 3 points as a maximum weight.
Calculate using a simple count for authored books.
Formula: Maximum score can be 3 points for total number of selected books with ISBN number and highest score can be taken by a book is 0.5 point , if the publication of the book was made within 3 years.
- Conference Paper Publications:
Assign 3 points as a maximum weight.
Score based on conference presentations and publications
Formula: . The maximum score can be attained is 3, while International conference presentation certificate will provide 0.2, National Conference Presentation will provide 0.1 and the publication of manuscript in the International Conference will provide 0.5, National Conference it will be 0.3 points.
- General Article Publications:
Assign 2 points as a maximum weight.
Calculate by counting articles .
Formula: If the article is original and published within the last 3 years, then the maximum weightages per article can be 0.5, perhaps the final decision will be taken the expert committee members of the International Research Council.
- Patent Publications:
Assign 5 points as a maximum weight.
Calculate using a patent index: capped at 5
Formula: Publication of Utility Patent will give 1 point, Design Patent will give 0.5 points and it will be doubled if the patent grant certificate was received by the inventor. All the patent publication and grants for the last 3 years will be considered.
- Copyright Publications:
Assign 2 points as a maximum weight.
Count unique copyrights for maximum of 2 points, which were published in the last 3 years.
Formula: The maximum weight can be given to one copyright is 0.2 point and it will be maximum of 2 points.
